The twins turned 2 a couple of weeks ago and we have had tons of fun playing with new toys and learning new things! I want to share with you some of their favorites and what I think has made really great gifts for their age! If you don’t have children, your child isn’t 2 yet or your child was 2 a long time ago, then you may feel a little out of loop as far as what is popular and what toys are appropriate for that age.
A couple of rules on giving gifts to children:
- Make sure it has an off switch. There is nothing worse than tip-toeing around during nap time, accidentally bumping the toy box and a toy sings and flashes light for the next 5 minutes! Or just because Mom needs to save her sanity with a little quiet, play time!
- If it requires batteries, include those in your gift! Most parents will have a stash of AA batteries but just in case they don’t and the toddler wants to play with their present at the party, you need to have little Energizer Bunnies ready to go!
- You get bonus points if your gift is fun AND educational!
- Pay attention to the season! A bat and ball are great gifts but not in January unless you want the kid to spend most of the winter in time out!
Okay, so onto the fun part…the GIFTS! Below is a collage of all the gifts (pin it to Pinterest to share with your friends!) and then I will tell you a little bit about why I like them to help you decide on what to get!

Chalk | Inflatable Pool | Sorting Bears | Tricycle
Geometric Shapes | Tea Set | Water Table | Kitchen Set
Sprinkler | Puzzles | Matching Cards | Bubble Lawn Mower
Housekeeping Set | Slide | Lego Blocks | Gel Writing Board
Table & Chairs | Picnic Table | Roller Coaster
Inflatable Pool – This is the perfect size for their age and can easily fit 4-5 toddlers at one time! We used it at their birthday party and it was a big hit!
Slide – We got this for them in the winter as a way to be a little active inside and we have moved it to the porch since it’s been nice out! We also used this with the pool and made a little water slide that was so much fun! I posted a few videos in my IG stories!
Colorful Sorting Bears – I LOVE THESE! I got these as a gift for one of our friends’ daughters and couldn’t wait to get them for the girls! They can work on sorting, learning their colors and counting. They have been asking for the, “Bears,” quite frequently.

Matching Cards – These are also a great gift as the difficulty can grow as they learn! We lay one set of cards face up and then give the girls a card one at a time to find the match. They love seek and find books so I figured they would do this well. To make it a little more challenging, we take 3-4 sets at a time and do them face down for a true game of match! As they get used to it, we will use all the cards. They also have basic fruits/vegetables and colors on them to learn with.

Housekeeping Set – This was the highest quality cleaning toy set I could find! Melissa & Doug products never disappoint! The girls have been playing with this non-stop! I love the little stand that it has so it can all be put away nicely in a corner. Hopefully because of this they won’t be shocked when I hand the real broom in a couple years and expect some actual cleaning!
Bubble Lawnmower – The girls took a HUGE interest in bubbles this Spring so this was a great gift for them! They pushed them around the night of their party and Aubree even wanted to park hers in the shed with Daddy’s big mower! 🙂
Water Table – We actually got this for their birthday last year but they play with it now just as much if not more! It’s perfect for hot days and fits greatly on our front or back porches!
Roller Coaster – They got this at 18 months for Christmas but needed some assistance getting up on the car to go down. Now they can completely do it by themselves and have been learning on how to take turns!
Geometric Shapes – I love this toy! They can learn colors and shapes, count the holes and it work on hand-eye coordination by putting the shapes on the correct pegs. If you have a little one that likes to ‘tinker’ with things, then they will love it!
Kitchen – The girls have a pink one but here is a neutral option because boys need to learn to cook too!
Table & Chairs – This is in the corner of our living room and the girls love having their own little space! They eat snack here, do puzzles, play and store some of their toys in the net compartment! They have a couple different color options to match your home!
If you have any specific questions about any of the items, just ask! Let me know what you decide to get!
XOXO
