Quick & Easy Acai Bowl

This is THE best acai recipe I have tried! A couple of months ago I was at a local coffee shop and they had these “fruit bowls” on their menu that my cousin kept raving about! I wasn’t very hungry for lunch one day and thought I would give it a try and I. Was. Hooked! I got all the ingredients to make my own at home! If you love fruit, then an acai bowl will be right up your alley!

I see some people describe them as smoothie bowls but this coffee shop made theirs very thick which kept it from melting and getting ‘soupy’ like smoothies can be. (There is a photo below that shows you what I mean! See that stiff peak!) This makes you feel like you are actually eating something rather than using a spoon for a liquid drink in a bowl.

You can choose whatever fruits you like for your bowl but make sure whatever you pick is frozen! You can buy it that way or freeze fresh fruit! This helps it get that super frozen, thick texture! The best part of the bowl is obviously the toppings! You can keep it basic or go crazy! The options and combinations are endless!

BONUS: My kids love this bowl! If you struggle getting your kids to eat healthy or green vegetables, this recipe allows you to sneak in the spinach or kale without them even knowing it!

Acai Bowl Recipe

Serving Size: 1 or 2                          Prep Time: 10 minutes

Acai Bowl Ingredients:

1 Sambazon Acai Original smoothie pack

½ frozen banana

4/5 slices of frozen peaches

4/5 frozen strawberries

½ handful of spinach (optional)

½ Tbsp. Honey or Agave nectar

¼ cup of water (You can also use coconut water or almond milk but I found water works best!)

Acai Bowl Toppings:

¼ cup of Granola

½  banana, sliced

10-15 blueberries

2 Tbsp. Coconut Flakes

1-2 Strawberries, sliced

1 Tbsp. Pumpkin Seeds

1 Tbsp. Chia Seeds

 

Acai Bowl Directions:

  1. Break up your frozen smoothie pack into 4 pieces and place them in your blender cup.
  2. Add other Acai Bowl Ingredients to blender cup.
  3. Blend until smooth. (Add 1 Tbsp. of additional water at a time if needed to help blend)
  4. Spoon out your frozen mix into a bowl and place it in the freezer while you prep your toppings.
  5. Add toppings to your bowl in any desired pattern.
  6. Drizzle with honey or agave nectar.
  7. Enjoy! Share with a friend … or don’t! 🙂
